I found the NYC set! Its the same price as the New Nickel Plate Road Bershire set. Which one is more unique? and which would you choose?

If you want NYC, try the NYC berkshire for $229 and get some cars, track, and transformer on Ebay to go with it.

Keep checking ebay, there will be LOTS of train stuff listed in the next week due to the holidays. Also go thru Classic Toy train magazine and check all the larger dealers and the adds in the classifieds. The newer berks get good reviews, they just arent the berks of the postwar years. I know the local dealer has a bunch of the NKP sets, look real nice, even has a proper baywindow NKP caboose with correct paint. Check with Train City in Erie, PA. I handle his repair work and he gets in many collections for sale, lots more than he has listed at any time, takes time to inventory it all, Good Luck Mike

Well I'm thinking if I don't find it in the next week I will probably buy the Nickel Plate Road set. Does anyone own this set or one of the new style berkshire's? They look a little small. I was in college when the NYC set from 2000 I'm looking for went on sale, I guess it wasn't a very popular set with a sticker price at $500.
Any help would be great!

Went to my usual haunts but nothing there.[:(]
That's one thing nice about the MTH site, it shows inventory availabilty in the dealer network. Sure would be nice if other makers did the same.

Need to find Lionel Set from 4 years ago... PLEASE HELP!
Posted by FEClionel on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 12:36 PM
I was flipping through a Lionel catalog from 2000 and I came across a nice steam set I would love to have. Now that I know I won't get my Polar Express set til next year I still want a steamer for under the tree. I came across the NYC Steam Freight Set 6-21988 w/railsounds & 21956 w/signal sounds. After some online searching I can't find either of these sets still in stock anywhere. Let me know if you can point me in the righ direction or if you have any more info about this premium starter set.
