The question was brought up on That other O ga. forum.
Crush the old rivet, cut the pin. Clean around the rivet hole. Replace with new roller and the put a drop of solder over the rivet head and your done. Works every time and and the next time roller can be replaced very easily. Of course care is needed not to damage the arm.

That seems to be the way it goes on Forums. I posted a picture of my Grapple on another forum and some guy jumped me on using pipe fittings. I have been working on Hyd systems for 40 years. I know at the pressure I have it set at it will be fine but there is always a armchair expert who knows better. Whatever.

So if your ZW gets to around 350 degrees F, that solder will melt. I wonder what temperature the varnish on the windings melts at. I know, the varnish is a bit farther away from that dot of solder. It might be a half inch away from that solder.
The last time I changed rollers, I peened them with hammer and a trim nail if I remember right. I am amazed Lionel never figured out how to make a Cotter pin work for this assembly

Sounds like a good fix to me.
Seems to me that if the roller gets hot enough to melt solder, there is probably something else going on........
