Thanks you very much.  White it is.  I guess I'll take the frame to a paint store and compare the white under where the shell was mounted to get an unfaded version of the original paint.

I'd pick white over creme. Use a clean part of your chassis as a guide.

I remember going into a paint store looking for white paint. There are endless whites available.

It's been years since I've repainted trains. When I did, I liked the paints sold by Charles Woods: http://www.trainenamel.com/

The only white I see on his site is #45N white.
If you write to them, maybe they can make a recommendation.

Frame & Handrail Color B&M #6-8654

I am refurbishing a Lionel B&M GP9 #6-8654 and would like to know what the true color of the handrails and walkways of this diesel is.  My engine has developed rust spots on these areas and I plan to repaint them.  The way the color of the handrails and walk-way looks now is off-white or a creme-color.  The white on the plastic engine shell is definately white.  Would I be correct in repainting the metal parts white?

Thanks,

Steve
