Lionel 2333 power truck wiring

Hi:

I have a Lionel 2333 power truck that I need help with the wire routing.   There are two wires that originate from the Collecton Assembly, a red and black.  The red I'm fine with.

The black goes through a channel in the metal truck and exits out the front passing by the brass worm shaft gear and hooks to the magnetic coupler.

Question:  It seems that the black wire might get rubbed or caught by the worm shaft gear.  Between the wire (in the channel) and the gear there is only 1/8" clearance with some side to side play.  I know the front apron covers it.

Am I missing something on the routing of the black wire ?
