A simple hand made card maybe with a picture of a toy train make it like a gift certificate for your dad to use when he finds something he wants in the future in total or as contribution toward the purchase price.  I've received these in the past and I like them.

The bay has some good deals if you are willing to look long enough.

I'm sure your Dad will be happy with anything you get him.  Hey, free Marx is free Marx!

It's getting a bit late but I'd check under the "Resources" tab on the top of this website, go to "Coming Events" and check for any train shows that might be coming up in your area, they're probably the best bets for any vintage Marx.  You can try E-Bay as well, but as I've never gotten anything through them others will have to advise you on that.

You can also check "Resources" to see if there's any hobby shops in your area that specialize in toy trains.  They might be able to help as well.

Gift for a Collector

Hi, this might be a long shot but I know nothing about collecting trains. My dad, however, is in love with Marx! Seriously he goes out every weekend hunting for them and has taken over a full room in my parents' house filled with box after box, set after set. I am wanting to find something special for him for his birthday, something unique that a collector would enjoy but i dont know where to begin and im on a budget. I really cant aford anything over $50 and everything i see online is "vintage" priced. Any ideas regarding what i should look for? i was knid of thinking abbout a wind up set because i know he doesnt have those but would he even want one? Thanks in advance for any advice.
