Hi Major

I have a  K335 that I swaped motors on small to large and added pullmor tires to it. The K335 is a great runner

Thanks

I have a 336 Northern Large motor that my dad purchased in 1956 that had the "vulcanized" pul mor tires on it. I also have a 316 K-5 with the "vulcanized" tires. When they wore out and started to crumble I scraped the remainder off and super glued the new ones on using a slow setting super glue. Pulling power was restored and the engines no longer wobble due to uneven traction tires.

The American Flyer Engines that I am working on now are:

355 Baldwin  1956-57

21927 Alco A  1960

21004 Switcher  1957

342AC Switcher 1950-51

484 Alco  1957

316 Pacific 1953-54

Not sure about parts numbers for the pullmor wheels but they are hard and cracked and slick, the three digits look molded on the wheel and there does not appear to be any outer lip on the wheel  hence I have been told that they are vulcanized Pullmor tires

Thanks

Irontooth,

For all I know you are right, I have just never seen any that were vulcanized on the wheel. But then I don't have everything produced and very little AF but 3 rail so I would like to know to if they did that.

Hope you get a good answer. What years, models/part number engines are you working with?

Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the early 3 digit Steam and Diesel were vulcanized on the wheel, the five digit had a groove for the Pullmor band to fit in. Yes some of my tires are hard and slick and some are crumbling apart. That is why I am asking what others had done to solve this problem.

Thanks

"tires that are vulcanized on the wheel"

What were those on?? I don't think I have seen that. Confused I have seen some that were stuck on the wheel and hard as a rock. Could that be the problem?

If your pulmor traction tires wear out or break you can get new ones from Port Line hobbies. I also believe Tracks & Trains sell them also. Note that there are two different styles of Gilbert steam pulmor tires. One is thinner and glued onto the metal rim, The other thicker tire fits into a grove in the metal rim.

Hello Everyone

My question goes out to everyone. What do you do when your Pullmors are not pulling anymore? I know you can replace them or use Bullfrog Snot. What do you do with the tires that are vulcanized on the wheel? Any and all comments are welcome.

Thanks
