use a cord that is listed as a 18-2 wire gage. also use only the 2 wire types, not the 3 wire types. a good 100 watt or better gun and electrical solder and you ready to go.
I use the replacement cords that are now sold by L&L Model Train Restoration. But honestly, it's just a matter of convenience. The cords are black, have a nice plug, and pre-tinned ends. I think Home Depot carries something similar. As already mentioned, cutting the end from an extension cord words too.
RT good thing this was not your question. I would have told you to buy a toaster and cut the cord off, then throw the toaster away...LOL
Actually I do cut the cords off of things that we throw away. Always have a few around that way..Providing they are still good of course....S.J.

Any box store would carry A/C wire. If all else fails buy a GOOD 6 foot extension cord and cut the female end off.
Up to you as to how many you want??
Many other places to.

I have my great uncles 1033 transformer, and used to use it to run his old trains. However, the cord has frayed such that both wires come into contact with the shell of the transformer and shorts out my house. Does anyone know where I can get a new cord?
