Thanks!

the two wall packs are already phased

both internal breakers would have to trip to completely shut down a layout powered with two packs,

So I place the two wall packs on the opposite side of the loop from the switches (where the power would be transferred from one loop to the other).  One pack is attached to a terminal track on the inner loop and one attached to the terminal track on the outer  loop.  The worst that could happen is that the circuit breakers in the wall packs might trip?

If they do trip, is it a major issue to reset them?

1) Yes

2) Yes - recommended

3) Yes - 5 amps - 1 amp more than the two 36 watt/2 amp wall packs.

Also, FYI, the two wall packs are already phased for you as a result of the polarized DC barrel/coaxial plugs, which is one of the un-advertised / not promoted features of the DC power supply scheme. It dumbs-down the entire phasing issue so it cannot be combined to give a short(or 36 volt potential). For circuit protection though, both internal breakers would have to trip to completely shut down a layout powered with two packs, which may or may not happen depending on where the terminal tracks are located and where the short circuit is.

How to Power Polar Express and Pennsylvania Flyer from a CW-80

Last year for Christmas I purchased the Polar Express O Gauge LionChief.  For Christmas this year I just got the Pennsylvania Flyer LionChief and a CW-80.  The layout I'm planning to use is the 4 1/2 x 8 foot Fastrack two loop layout with 4 switches:

https://lionel-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/assets/FasTrack%20Layouts%20-%20resource%20for%20Marketing%20Module.pdf?v=1

Lionel support tells me that I can't combine the DC wallpacks with the CW-80 power.  They also do not know if there is a way to use the two wallpacks together as there is no way to phase them.  They have never heard of anyone using 2 wall packs together.

So it looks as if I'll be using the CW-80.  My questions are:

1)  If the CW-80 is connected via a Lionel Fastrack Terminal Section if the switches are set so that both trains are running simultaneously on the inner and outer loops will  power reach the inner loop?  I.E.  If the switches are not set connecting the two loops allowing a train to move from the inner loop to the outer or vica versa will power reach the inner loop?

2)   Assuming this is the case Can I attach two Fastrack terminal sections to the single CW-80, one terminal section in the inner loop, one in the outer loop?

3) Does the CW-80 have enough power to run both of these LionChief trains?
