This is driving me crazy!

Around 2010 I think, I was trolling through EBay and came across a line of toy train products that consisted of plastic bases about (from memory) 6" square that would interconnect to form complex layouts. The tiles generally came 2 to a set and formed a loop, but frequently had switches that would branch off on the ends to connect to other tiles. All track arrangements had to form connected loops because the trains didn't reverse.

The tracks were molded with rails and the trains ran on the rails. The base tiles had molded scenery in gray plastic, but also had buildings, trees, bridges, towers, and other pieces that were added. The switches were controlled by little orange levers. I think I owned several "town" tiles as well as some with forests, a military base, and perhaps a cemetery. Some of the additional track tiles were just parallel tracks, but others had crisscrossing tracks, double crossing parallel tracks, or circles inside the crisscrossing parallel tracks that had 8 switches to get in and out.

The trains were three-unit sets, with one powered car and two trailers. I remember subway cars, streamlined trains like the Bullet train, and I think Alco PA units. I don't recall if there were freight trains or not. Size wise, they were about 3/4" wide and about 2-3" long.


I bought a bunch in a lot on Ebay as a novelty, but when they arrived they were used and not in the best of running condition. I sold them about a week later.

I am not trying to think of what they were called but cannot find them anywhere. Ebay and Amazon searches using all combinations of "Battery" and "train set" and "Subway" and "toy" and "connected bases" turn up nothing. Surely someone here must know what I am thinking of? I hope! I am not thinking of those large toyish train sets that are sold in the malls around Christmas time. Also, I know the trains were not made by Matchbox, Mattel, Micro Machines, or Tomy.
