Track Bumpers
Posted by Trainman2001 on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 8:05 PM
Having just completed the final(?) (is there ever a final layout???) track work of my layout by adding and lengthening enough yard trackage to hold all of engines and most of the cars, I need to put ends on them that keeps the trains from running over the end and ending up on the floor.

I had some illuminated Atlas bumpers, but they don't fit very well with the Ross trackage that I use. I just saw that Gargraves has a new bumper track that requires removing a piece of my existing trackage to insatll. They look decent, but they're still a little non-protypical. Now... I realize that even mentioning the word "prototypical" while talking about three-rail track is somewhat of an oxymoron, but I am trying to make the track as realistic as possible.

I have a whole bag of track ties from Ross to make timber bumpers and that's one possibility. But I am interested in producing the bent rail types that "real" railroads use.

Does anyone have pictures or information about constructing these?[?]
