2-rail to 3-rail conversion possible?
Posted by bronco64 on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 12:48 AM

I have an MTH O Veranda Turbine loco that is 2-rail.  I understand that there are some who have converted 2 to 3-rail.  If true, I have been unable to find any hint as to how to accomplish the conversion.  Any direction?  Thanks

Welcome to the forum.

The easiest way to accomplish the conversion is to exchange the 2 rail trucks for 3 rail trucks.

First make sure there is not a swich and a center rail roller included. 2 to 3 rail is much simpler than 3-2 wich is what i originally though you were asking. For 3 rail you do not need to replace the trucks. A lot of mfgs. simply have a switch that shorts the outer wheels together. There is probably a mounting hole for a center rail roller. The engine may in fact have come with one.

Finally. Call MTH service or download the manual. What you are asking for may exist already with a minor adjustment.
