Found great magnet for cleanup
Posted by FJ and G on Tuesday, November 23, 2004 6:42 AM
at HD for about $15

Looks like a squeegy. Comes with a broom handle and is about 15 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep.

During some rainy days I did some metal grinding, soldering, filing and dremeling on my tracks. The power vac did a fine job but the magnet seemed to locate even more stuff.

Since the magnet isn't electric, I couldn't turn off the power to get the shavings off so wiped with a paper towell over the garbage can. Is that the recommended approach?

(btw, one of these suckers under the tracks would uncouple your train in no time)

FJ&G,

Sounds like the magnet bar that roofers and contractors use to sweep the area to collect loose nails to prevent injuries and to pacify homeowners like me who do not like having hundreds of nails in the yard, street, and driveway after a roofing job.

I wi***hey were using them up at my daughters school. Three flats this fall due to nails and sheetrock screws, etc.

I have seen the roofers do the same thing to wipe off the debris.

Keep it far away from your wallet (credit and ATM cards), your PC, and other magnetic memory media!

Regards,
Roy
