Welcome, Bagetta. Lots of good people here on this forum.
I firmly believe that there are not really any new problems out there, just ones that you have not seen yet - somebody out there has probably seen it and solved it.
Welcome.
I was very fortunate as a kid and received my foirst train set as a Christmas present. My parents were vety supportive on this hobby.
Glad that this is "your time". It will be interesting to follow your progress.
You're welcome Al! There's a lot of fun stuff in there!

Thanks, Firelock. It looks like a big read. I'll take a look at it
Best

Bagetta, that thread I mentioned was called "Shopping For A 4-4-0 General", and it was a big one, running to 77 posts.
This should be the link: trains.com/ctt/f/95/t/244407.aspx
Looks like I can't get the link to light up.
If that doesn't work just hunt back several pages to find it. If you're into 4-4-0's I'm sure you'll find it interesting.
Welcome.............

Looks like you have quite the beginnings of a great layout there. I too am attracted to the 19th century equipment. Don't be afraid to share some pics on Sunday Photo Fun.
Welcome aboard! You have selected one of the finest ways to enjoy retirement!
welcome to the world of toy trains!

I had had trains all of my life but never had a time or place to use them till I retired 6 years ago. Enjoy the ride. Looking good.

Thank you for the welcome. I look forward to checking out what's available here. I'm sure I have lots to learn.
Welcome aboard sir! We have a lot of fun here and learn quite a lot from each other, but looking at that layout of yours I think we may have a lot to learn from you!
If you search back in the Forum you'll find there's been a pretty big discussion on 4-4-0 type engines from Lionel and MTH.
Hi. I'm fairly new to trains -- wanted one as a child, but never got one. So now that I'm retired I decided to build my railroad. Started last year using Tombstone and the old west as my theme and mainly interested in The General and other older trains. Hope to enjoy this forum so I started a blog to mainly keep myself organized, but everyone is welcome to follow along as I develop my free lance railroad. A lot is based on history but a lot of it comes from my imagination about a world that no longer exists.
