Great!

Which train did you ride?

Since you're stating "Business Class" most of us would assume that was a Metroliner. Did it appear that you hit close to 100mph? That's one of the thrills of riding a Metroliner.

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

My first Amtrack Ride.

Well folks, i finally got off my lazy butt and went home to see the Momster. Since we are a one car family (more money for trains[:D]) I had to figure out a way to get from Wilmington De. to Pittsbugh Pa. Well after checking out airline (300.00 one way, ouch) and renting a car (100.00 with military discount) i settled on Amtrack. A the suggestion of my wife i upgraded to business class for an additional 18.00 so my total out of pocket was 60.00.
First this is a great way to travel, relaxed, quiet, mellow. With none of the cramped feeling like an airline. Also the elesclator ride up into Phillys station was breathtaking, what a station. For those of you who have never been there, pictures don't do justice. THe ceiling rises up 7 stories aboce you, everyhthing is oldworld ornate. The old wooden seats are comfortable, and have probally been there for just about forever. One thing i noticed, the ends of the building are composed of a glass wall broken up into 8 blocks long, 8 blocks high, each block was 10' by 10'. Each block section had 10 windows on either side to open for ventaliation. I sat there wondering what it would have been like to have to be the guy whose job it was to crank all those open on a hot summer day.[:p]
Like i said, the ride was great. THe only thing was the high cost of food and beverages. It would make a movie theater owner blush. 1.50 for a can of soda. But since i knew what financial pressure AMTRACK was under i paid it and bought two during my trip.
All in all i would love to do another trip soon.
Bill
