Everybody's heard of York, but who's heard of Fall S Fest?

(And yes, I did a search on the Forum just to see.  It found nothing.)  The Fall S Fest is a Midwestern Region annual gathering of S-scale enthusiasts.  It is hosted by local S-scale clubs and it rotates between Chicago, St. Louis, and Minneapolis on a tri-annual basis.  Despite being on this forum for years, and despite the fact that this event is now in it's 40th year, I just discovered S Fest last year through a flyer at a local train meet.  Since it was in Chicago, which is driving distance for me, I decided to attend.  I can say that I was not disappointed.  As well as the displays, contests, and seminars on S-scale railroading, it also had three large hotel ballrooms full of vendors.  Maybe that is not as big as York, but at least it was "all S-scale/all the time".   On Sunday there were layout tours courtesy of the local club members.

 

This year's Fall S Fest is October 30th through November 1 in St. Louis, MO.  If you think this might interest you, registration information can be found by logging into the AFSGSLA website @ http://www.trainweb.org/afsgsla/.   Who knows, maybe one of these years CTT might even decide to cover the event, as it is in their "own back yard".

It is in the S Gaugian magazine. Even though I have lived in California for the last 20 years I am able to make the meet about every third year. It is worth the trip.
