You can make the other direction the default just by swapping the two wires at each motor.

Only bad thing is I like running long hood foreward sometimes. I can live with it though!
BigAl 956 Williams and K line eliminated the forward lock back in the 90s. They made the reverse board automaticly reset to forward after 10-20 seconds of no power eliminating the need for an extra $1.00 switch. In many cases the hole for the switch still remains in the frame. And if you really need it there is a way to add it but the reset to forward feaure is sufficient in most cases.

I wasnt aware of that. You are right it resets to forward after a few seconds.
I lashed up my 2 GP 9 Lionels and the Williams GP9 with 30 cars. Pulls like a champ!
Another way to lock the Williams in one direction is to remove the circuit board and add in a bridge rectifier with at least a 4 amp 50 volt rating. Wire the bridge rectifier to the motor wires. Never, ever hook-up a Williams straight to track power!

As far as I know Williams engines do not have a lock-out switch. None of the ones I ever owned had a lock-out.

I have a Williams gp9 probably from early-mid 2000. Cant locate a directional lock switch on it!
Did they make these without a switch or am I missing something??
