It rained all night. That 3" we had yesterday afternoon some areas close by had 4". This morning there is 5.25" in the last 24 hours on top of 2.6" from Friday. The roads are a mess and the sub-pump was running every couple of minutes or so. At one point around 4:45am it was running every 20 seconds.
Emergency management called last night to tell us what we already knew. Hope it lets up.
What a mess the lane is. The whole corn field on the north entrance to the place flooded and ran over the top of the road and down the north end of the driveway. 6" to 8" deep ruts a foot and a half wide. No fixing it without gravel. The rest of it will grade back out.
And now NASCAR is rained out and they are calling for rain everyday for the next week..

Wanted to post this earlier but "short term memory" short circuited.
Jon A, A really big to you and all the other Patriot Gaurd Riders across the country. Earlier this week one of the pilots who died in the helo crash in Nepal came home through Lindbergh Field. There was a tremendous turnout by the Patriot Gaurd to provide an escort to Murrietta, 65 ~ 70mi, where services were to be held in his home town. There were a whole lot of people who stopped along I-15 and on the overpasses standing to honor him and his family as they passed by.
After what so many of the vets returned to in the very late 60's and early 70's this made me very happy to see this take place.

Trimmed and edged most of the yard today. Still some work to do tomorrow if weather and my body permit. Was tired all day. Went to a graduation party for someone on wife's side of the family. Went about like I expected. Did go to church on the grounds of the old one where my wife attended as a child. Had to rebuild it after a fire. Looks nice. New one in my town will be like this one only twice as big. Got to watch Indy 11 win 3-0 tonight. Sato was fastest Honda but only 8th quick overall for the Toronto race tomorrow. Got a "dopey grin" email from my Norwegian soccer friend Friday. Made my day. I hope everyone has a good day.

Good run at the museum yesterday, only a few minor gremlins made their presence known.
Didn't get much of a "R&R" day today, had some things to do before the BetterHalf's hen party, then off to town to pick up the sleep study gear. How in the heck can they expect you to sleep with all that stuff you have to wear.
Fife, Bummer on the NS911 not being there. Would love to see one of the "big 3" make that one and the veteran's model, preferrably by MTH in the Railking line
Well, back to the kitchen. BetterHalf wanted stuffed peppers for supper, they should be getting close to coming out of the oven.

Evenin' boys. Wellll, Wifey and i made the treck to Strasburg, with grandson in tow, only to find out that NS 911 was a no-show. The museum just got word yesterday afternoon that the unit was "working" elsewhere. A lot of disappointed folks, me included. Boy still had a good time. NS did have it's executive F's there, albeit with a lot of road grime.
Chief - I would have given a stern "no".

Speaking of which, just got a call this morning from our pest er widowed friend who was fishing for an invite to eating out with us tonight. We have been in overkill going out with this guy. We have been out to eat three times in the last ten days where he was present. I gave him a wave off today but I know he will be bugging us again next week. I see more of him than I do of some family members. That's not right. Let alone friends who I would really like to see. I feel sorry for him but he needs more friends than us. I think he has run everyone else off. Sorry for the rant Ray

Mornin' boys. Nestea plunge kinda Hot out. Got up at Oh-dark-thirty to take FIL for shoulder surgery. Then took grandson for breakfast at the local diner. He had a side of bacon, while checking out the "spinnie seat" at the counter. Came home and performed some more engine maintainance, letting grandson oil the running gear on some engines. Big B&O/C&O passenger train on carpet central.
Morning all. Another HOT and sunny day. Ran small tiller in the middles of garden between beds. "Miracle Growed" all plants. Then ran soaker hoses. Garden growing. Squash and zucchini growing [late garden this year]. Cucumbers are making.

Good news! MTH is sending me a driving rod screw missing from my repaired engine. Got E mail today.
Went out with social group from church last night for dinner. Had seafood combo. Was not bad and picked up a coconut cream pie to take home for desert. Yum Yum!

Watering garden and adding a little fertilizer. Got first squash as garden is late this year. That vine ripe tomato in a swandwich was GOOD.

Bad day yesterday. Lost last night 3-1. Sort of got computer fixed, but not 100% sure. Contractor told us we can't build house addition like we planned. Something about elevation and ground level I don't understand. Does anyone in the world know anything? A lot of wasted time and effort for nothing. I hope everyone has a good day.

I'm even thing of start pulling my post-war out when I move and start running them again. will have original TMCC set up but not going into legacy either for a while anyway.

Installed new LED tail and front parking lights over the weekend and installed new sparking plugs. road runner is ready for a road trip, albeit a short one, just need my plates!! (Week 5 now...)
Not much on the train front, house hunting now in gear, an ideal one was set for an offer and then found out it had just went under contract.....bummed!! Something else will be found soon enough......

Mornin' boys. Gorgeous here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Yesterday was engine maintainance day. New traction tires on J, new battery in Decapod, new speaker in F unit. Unfortunately the Proto 1 F-unit has to go to LHS for what hopefully is a re-set. My MTH engines have cost me as much as my yatchet the past couple seasons. A big reason for my recent interest in post war steamers.

Yesterday temperature was over 100. It was 105 in the garage. Got a call from Just Trains yesterday that my MTH AS616 original Norfolk Southern road switcher was in stock so I placed the order. I have been waiting for MTH to do this road for several years. I got the VO1000 switcher with the same road name a few years back. I saw the AS614 engines in North Carolina when I was a kid near Chocowinity, N.C. I think the railroad called it Marsden because Choco was too long to type for telegraph operators. Chief probably remembers these engines near Raleigh but they changed the color from red to gray later on. The model is like the early version in red which I like best. My grandparents called it the red rabbit when they saw it. The line ran between Norfolk, Va. and Raleigh/Charlotte, N.C. Those were the days.

RT, I was thinking, once your on the way to Roseyville you should take advantage of the benefits of the Chief's notariety. Some of the benefits I could see....
Also, with your VA connections you should consider a flag pole, with some huge speakers in the front windows for Reville every morning at dawn. You will be the envy of the Forum.
Doug (DDG), All in all I think it would be about a $300 investment. The G-Scale in my train room is already wired, but hasn't been operated in a long time, due to dirty track. So that's why I cleaned that one. Also, will probably do the same to the dogbone, just to make sure all the equip works on the track configuration. Hope all the test and procedures work well, just don't over do it!!!

I know now chief but there is a Food-Lion about a block down the street on the same side so she can walk there if needed right behind the Hardee's and Dollar General and across the street from the Auto Zone and CVS. Sorry I didn't stop in was on a very tight schedule.
