Good morning all,

Tried out my recently repaired MTH 4-8-4 yesterday and it works fine.  First time I have seen it run in about 9 months or more.  Only glitch was a missing screw that holds the main driving rod on to the 4th driving wheel next to the cab.  Called MTH this AM. I guess somebody forgot to put it back on.  Hope to get a new screw soon.

Cloudy and cool today.  Might get a little percipitation later this week with thunder showers forcast in the mountains.

later,

Ray

G'day All.

Beautiful out today, http://www.camzone.com/index .

Busy few days with the museum, worked Friday, Saturday and Tuesday. Tuesday was a "free" day so we finished the day with about 1,800 visitors.

Ray, Sounds as though you encountered Murphy's Law. But look on the bright side, the side rods didn't get all bent up and ruined before the missing screw was discovered.

Still discovering all kinds of things as it relates to an ICD. Seems as though even some powered hand tools, especially battery operated, can create enough of a magnetic field to be a potential for problems to the implant. Hhmm, what about DCS, Legacey or TMCC. If I'm found on the floor twitching you know why. Smile, Wink & Grin Smile, Wink & Grin  Laugh

Fife, Thoughts and prayers for those still on the job in B'more.

8n, We have a car show every Friday nite here in town, Shake-n-bake and the Chief were here for one once. http://cruisingrand.com/events/calendar/2015  Some of those cars just make you walk around drooling.

Got to get moving, been goofing off long enuff.

Back to work.

Later all !

Evenin' Fellas

Been really busy again. Fri-Sun I was in class to learn about PMI so I can get my PMP certification. Was probably the best class I have ever taken. Just have to study my rumpus off and hopefully sit for and pass the certification exam next Saturday.

Fife - weekdays are rough for me, unless I take a day off. Which may be a possibility in the near future (by choice or not). Will keep you posted, may be a lunch at the lakeside restaurant we went to... 2 years ago... yes it has been that long. Sigh

Buckeye, where are you headed?  Gonna be near Baltimore...?

I was at the Inner Harbor for an engineering society meeting.  Then drove north to Newark with Mrs. Buckeye.  Used Amtrak to get back to BWI.  I must say the curve north of Philly where they put it on the ground a couple of weeks ago is rather sharp.

I'll be back.

Good evening all,

Good day at work.  Good weather for walk.  Team did not do so well tonight.  We lost 6-0.   Just could not find the back of the net.   We will improve.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mornin' boys.  Well, my Halloween General deal fell through at the LHS, but I did pick up a neat UP walking brakeman boxcar (from a set break-up) for $20.  The cool thing is that it works off of track voltage, so it can be operated like an accessory on a siding.  More fun for grandson, who is coming over this morning.

88 - I was thinking more of a visit to Leister Land...

Buckeye - Let me know when you're returning.

cheapclassics - I caught the Detroit GP.  Entertaining.

dougnotta - Big cities are learning the hard way...

Mornin' All.

Chief's B'day ! Hope they check their fire insurance before they put that many candles on a cake. Happy B-Day

8n, I think you're correct on that being a Cheetah.

June gloom is here this morning, hope it doesn't hang around to long.

Need to get movin' on some things that need to be done inside. Need to do inside chores before outside because after the outside chores I'm done for the day.

Fife, With the FifeGrandpup coming over sounds like maybe a Thomas Mini-Marathon day. Thumbs Up

Roy, Hope you weren't affected by all that rain.

Later all.

Hello all

Well this will be my last week long shift until we close up for the summer. The change will be welcome.

Got a campout w/ a group coming up in a few weeks and looking forward to that.

Still working on the big trolley. They are hoping to get it out on the tracks soon and get some certifications completed. The two big deals right now are electrical and brakes. Make it go and whoah:)

And the really big news is the Corvan moved under its own power Tuesday evening, for the first time in almost 7 years. This while sitting in the newly reupholstered and installed bench seat. Next time I am off we will put it up on the lift and remove the fuel tank to be cleaned. After that some adjustments and fiddling and we may be able to actually get it out on the road.

Yes, it's a face only a mother can love...:)

Happy and grateful in the Ol' Pueblo

Happy Birthday Chieftain Frank. Happy B-Day

Bob, Corvan is looking good. Yes

Just cut the road front and fixed a leaking quick coupler on the JD. Got a piece of fitting tape caught under the pop off valve. Just had to open it up and blow it clean. Had to fire up the AC in the shed.

I'm sure we could work something out... I've got to get through the PMP certification... then I'll get with TheQ and see what works, maybe 2nd or 3rd weekend in July, or mid-August?

As for GrandFifepup only sitting for 5 minutes - I wonder where he gets that from?

News at works get more and more interesting as the days progress... yeah (not). If you know who I work for, Google them... you'll know why.

Thanks gang.  Busy day.  Mainly being fed.  Just got home from Chinese.

I didn't want to say much as I might have been overshaddowed by Buckeye.  You know he has a birthday every month. Confused

Had two rainy days.  Mainly spits and drops.  Garden and plants growing.

Wish I had a Corvan.  Lucky Bob.

Good evening all,

Submmbob, Wow, that is all I have to say.  Pretty cool Corvan!  Enjoy.  Wife and i went to pick up PT tonight.  They put in the wrong switch.  Fog lights do not turn on because there is no switch to do so.  So disgusted.   Contractor still has not started on room addition and the stakes are still in the wrong spot.   I sort of feel like Charlie Brown in the Christmas show, "Is there anyone on this planet  who can do something right?"   Work was ok today.  Did get yard mowed.   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good Evening ALL !!!!

A Huge Birthday wish for the Chief !  May the celebration last for days!  Since I'm going to go to two train shows this weekend, I will see what I can find to buy and put on my layout to commerate his birthday.

RT - Are you really sure you want to move to Roseyville?  When are you going?

Glad that all the Texas flooding by passed you Roy!  Regarding your pool, my friend Bob told me he got a notice from his city this week, stating that as of next year, California is going to prohibit the refilling of swimming pools.  So he is going to drain and refill his pool now. (????)  The reason he would be doing that is that after time the chemicals cause the water "hardness" or ph to get real high.  And the water will not respond to Chlorine etc.  So it has to be drained and refilled.  In 30 years we have done it once.  Ray have you heard anything about this?  I haven't.  I know there is a moratorium on new builds.

Had a Dr visit today!  Got a GREAT report, bone healing is doing real well.  Dr extended Physical Therapy another 6 weeks.  Also, said keep up the walking and increase it!  Then wrote a RX for some shoes with a "Rocker" typ soles.  Like the Sketchers.  So the insurance is buying them.  Big Smile  So very happy about all that.

Chris and I re-hung Grandma & Granpa's driveway gate today.  I had called one place about a Vinyl gate.  They said it would be 14 to $2400 installed!  We ended up buying a Redwood 2x4 for $7 and did it our selves.  G&G were very glad about that!!!

So all you guys take care!  And hopefully Ray will see you on Sunday.  (Bob will probably be their with me, with his York tales.)

Morning all!

Takin' it easy today. Temps to hit close to 90 and hoomid.

Don - constant chemicals use harden the water. Then chlorine levels will not hold steady. Chlorine level bounces and spikes then nothing. So one gets algae blooms easily. In a plaster pool the high ph will start eating the plaster. If you have any copper pipe (we replaced ours) it will start leaching the copper into the plaster, turning it green (permanent). So the only way to fix it is to replace 1/2 to 2/3's of the water whenever the ph exceeds a certain level. Do you test the "hardness" of your pool water? It is an extra solution to add to most test kits.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Still working on my pool trying to get everything in balance.  Have spent over $200 in the last week on chemicals etc.

Don, I don't really know what restrictions Glendora has put on refilling pools yet if any but I haven't heard.  I am trying a floater now for dispensing chlorine but have to be careful because of vinyl lined pool.  Have to keep the cholorine tablets away from the liner and only in the floater.  Unless the drought ends soon, when this vinyl liner goes, I am not going to replace it and will just leave the pool emptly until the drought is over or until I die, whichever comes first.

I interviewed a backup caregiver lady yesterday if I need help occasionally and have to be away from the house.  She is very nice and seems exactly like the type of person I wanted.

Don, glad to hear you got a good report on the healing.  Very good indeed.  See if you have any driving rod screws for MTH in your junk box.  I am trying to get one from them (that they lost) but can't get anyone on the phone to confirm my request yet.

later,

Ray

Ray,

I don't have any, sure of that.  But, the parts guy is suppose to be in Arcadia on Sunday, he should.  Suggest you might want to take the one out of the oppossing side to get the correct geometry, length and thread sizes.  Hopefully see you Sunday.
