Repairing a lionel standard gauge super motor
Posted by George Thill on Thursday, May 28, 2015 9:03 AM

Greetings!

I'm trying to repair a lionel standard gauge super motor: the fiber washer that holds the comutator segments to the armature shaft broke. Where can I get a replacement washer?

Or is there another way to fix this? Epoxy, and/or by winding fishing line around the segments to secure tham to the shaft?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

George Thill

The Motor Doctor can repair your armature with the your original segments, or fabricate a new one if necessary.

I had a broken fiber washer on mine and have repaired it by using epoxy on the comutator segments.  It now runs well and I've had no problems with it.  If I did it again I would add heavy duty sewing thread to replace the fiber washer.
