The [}:)] Doctor is in ! The help you seek can be found at www.TrainRepairParts.Com
They carry parts for Amercian Flyer & Lionel. They have the restringing kit for your crane
car and a complete service manual for Amercian Flyer Trains. They are very big on AF
parts and such. I hope this helps you in your restoration project.

I need help with an AF crane car no.944

Hello,

I have an INDUSTRIAL BROWNHOIST crane car, no.944 from American Flyer, its from around 1954 i guess.....

It was quite dirty and the thread was rotten and as soon as i laid a hand on it just shreded away.... Now I need to figure out how the thread runned through the crane arm and lift, to replace it.

Can anybody tell or give me a picture or draw of how it goes....?

I sanded away rust very carefully from brass parts, wahsed it on warm water with liquid hand soap, finally cleaned with lemon & baking soda most of the car (except on letters, off course)..... it looks almost like new.

Thanks in advanced for your kind help
