Bulb (lamp) simple question
Posted by traindaddy1 on Friday, May 1, 2015 10:25 AM

To Bob or anyone:....  Have to replace the red and green bulbs in a couple of Lionel 153 Block Signals.....They are bayonet type marked GE 363....Am willing to paint clear bulbs (not a problem)...Question: These are 14v. What would be the lowest voltage bulb that would work?...As always, many thanks.

That depends entirely on what voltage you intend to operate the signal on.  I would stick with 14 volts.  You could simply replace them with more 363s; but I would use 53s, which draw less current (120 vs. 200 milliamperes) and last longer (1000 vs. 250 hours).  They put out about half the light of the 363; but I think that doesn't matter very much for a signal.
