785 Hudson Center Wheel Driver Mount

Yes, that is exactly the issue.  I have that same diagram, btw, and it looks like the pin would screw in.  I have other locomotives where this is the case but on this one the pin is set in the wheel without a thread.

We ran it this morning and the loctite is holding.  If it doesn't then we will replace the wheel and crankpin.  Thank you.

It sounds like the crank pin came loose and the main drive rod came off.

The loctite should hold. If it does not, the wheel and crankpin will need to be replaced if the crankpin hole is enlarged.

I am unclear.
Is the drive wheel loose on its axle?
Or are you writing about a pin that is pressed into the wheel for the side rods?

Hello all,

I have a 785 Hudson that my two boys run constantly.  It runs great after receiving advice here about how to get it tuned up after sitting in a box for 20 years.  

On the center driving wheel, there is a "pin" to which the drivers mount.  It is black, set in the wheel, and there is a silver center piece.  Yesterday, the kids were running it and this pin came out, so the driver flopped about.  I looked at it and it looks like the pin is press fit into the center wheel.  (Bear in mind on the 785 there are spoked drivers so this looked a bit different than other Lionel locos where there is a hex bolt that you would re-tighten into the wheel.)  I took a look when I got home, cleaned everything up (grass, grease, etc.) and pressed it back into place, but it wasn't that tight.  So I tried a dab of loctite to keep it in place and let it sit over night.  Not sure if this will hold, although this is not a weight bearing part.

Assuming my "fix" doesn't hold, what would be the way to fix this?  It looks like the wheel would need to be pulled, and I don't have a wheel puller.  Any general pointers would be appreciated.  

The mini-NYC Line appreciates your help as right now the railroad is down to the 700E and it will be needing service soon too at the frequency that the two junior railroad operators run fast passenger service.
