Marx Smoke Fluid
Posted by overall on Monday, April 6, 2015 7:57 AM

I recently bought a Marx train set from the sixties. It has a diecast metal 2-4-2 steam engine # 666, a tender, a boxcar, a gondola, an autorack car and a caboose. All the cars have what I call "scissor hands" couplers. The engine has smoke. The box says it is liquid smoke. There are no instructions with the set still. Can anyone tell me if lionel smoke fluid will work with this engine? Thanks

Anyone's smoke fluid will work.  I prefer J-T's Mega-Steam Coffee "flavor" myself.

Some folks report that the Lionel smoke fluid gums up in the Marx smoke unit. I use Mega-Steam with good results.

Thanks to all for the replies. I really like this set. It is in very good shape and runs well too.
