I need help with Lionel railsounds button.I know this was covered on this forum before and I went by the instructions but no luck. I am running a MTH engine with Proto 2 using a postwar zw I bought a Lionel 6-5906 button and hooked it up as per instructions on this forum but I can not get bell to ring .Could someone have some answers-Please

Ed, I'm not sure if the railsounds button was ever supposed to work a proto2 engine's sounds. Proto1 maybe. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

HI Ed,

The 5906-1 ‘bell sound button’ should be wired with the red wire to the hot post of your transformer and the black wire to the center rail of the track. This will replace the normal lead wire from your transformer to the center rail of the track.

Holding the button down for 2 to 3 seconds should sound the bell.
