Thanks. If you hear of a donor send them my way.
Another solution: I had one pass though my hands where the previous owner put a small grommet inside the washer head gear to hold the arbor. If you look for a junker, make certain the "wings" are OK. They are commonly broken.
Had the same thing happen to my track cleaning car a while back. I ended up getting a parts car with a good gear. Nobody seems to be reproducing that part.
Good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion. Driving arbor is in good shape it is definately the wings inside the Washing Head gear.
Thanks again.
Yes, the part number is correct. What is broken are the ears inside the Washing Head that hold the Driving Arbor in place. Ebay has nothing advertised at this time, part or donor car. Thanks for the reply though.
The Washing Head Gear (3927-10) commonly has its plastic "wings" damaged so it won't hold the driving arbor (3927-16). But in my experience, if you hold the rotating sponge assembly in place while placing the car on the tracks, it will still work just fine. Sometimes the part of the driving arbor that is grabbed by those wings breaks off. Once again, if you hold the rotating sponge assembly in place, while putting the car on the track, it will still work fine.
Are you sure about the part no. 3927-10, or do you need 3927-16, which comes up from the bottom, (3927-16 driving arbor). If it is in fact the -10, you will have to find a donor car either on ebay, train show, auctions, etc. I couldn't find any parts dealer that had what you posted, and I searched over a dozen parts suppliers in my "Favorites". If the part you need is the -16, then they are available from most suppliers.
After 50+ years of not handling trains I am back and need some help. I have a grandson that loves trains and we have a postwar collection that needs some work. So far I hve done fairly well but have run into a wall on a 3927 Track Cleaner. After replacing the track clening sponge I put the assembly back in the washing head gear and the part that holds the driving arbor in the washind head gear broke. I have looked on every parts website I can find for a replacement washing head gear (part # 6-3927-10) to no avail. Does anyone know where I might find this part or a parts only 3927 track cleaner?
Any help would be appreciated
