Yes, however LC locomotives run with the control all the way up at 18v.

BTW, if you have a LionChief + locomotive you can ditch the remote and run those with the transformer the way you run your older engines.

You can safely run the LionChief set with AC power. See page 5 of the instructions for the Polar Express LionChief set.

I have a traditional postwar Lionel layout powered by a ZW transformer. I desire to run a Lion Chief (not Lion Chief Plus) locomotive on this layout. Can I set the Lion Chief engine on the track, raise the track voltage to 14 volts and run it using the remote? Can I do this without damaging the locomotive?
