I;ve experienced no problems with my post war engines and Fastrack Switches. They are well engineered and well made. Very smooth.

Using the manual switches here to with no problems. Don't even lose contact when going slow.

I used the fast track manual switches with my old Lionel steam & diesel loco's and I must say that they are really smooth. Better than the "O" gauge #022's. Not one derailment even if the switch is set wrong and even at high speed. The magna-traction works well because of the tin plate rails. I started converting my exiisting layout to fast track. All I'm waiting for is the remote switches which Lionel says will be out next month (Dec.) Enjoy;[:)]

Try MTH RealTrax as well. Nice track. However, the rails are made of nickel silver. This means that MagneTraction is ineffective but that is no problem unless you want to run long trains.

Fastrack Switches

I'm contemplating a Christmas layout using Fastrack this year. All of my locomotives are postwar (up through mid '60's). In the past using late model Lionel switches, I've had constant derailing problems with postwar diesels (steamers were OK). I got rid of the switches and went back to old O-22's. In looking for a track system with an intergral roadbed for a floor layout, Fastrack's compatibility with Magna-traction seems a natural. But do the F-T switches derail old loco's? My local hobby shop doesn't know, never tried it. Anyone out there with experience?
