Window Glass remote control

We have a new library in our town of 2500 and we want to put a train one of the windows. We would like to let the kids work the train, remotely thru the glass. I remember as a kid in Seattle, the department store had such a remote switch. When a person put their hand on the window, in a designated spot, the trains would run.
