MTH Premier NYC F3 PS 3.0
Posted by First Timer on Sunday, January 11, 2015 3:17 PM

Hi guys, just have a question.  I bought an MTH premir NYC F3 PS 3.0 last year and was only able to try it out today.  Straight from the box, I added 15-20 drops of smoke fluid to prime the smoke unit.  Smoke came out but very very little.  Even though I am running DCS, i checked to see if the smoke control is on and it was.  So, I added a few more drops in both the A & B unit.  Now, no smoke comes out.  I can hear the fan and feel a little warm air coming out from the stack but not smoke on both units.  What do you guys think?

Thanks

Blow DOWN into the smoke units ! See if smoke come out then ! this usually works for me! Do not add any more smoke fluid ! at this point ! If you flood the units , you may risk shorting out boards ! Check for excess fluid under engines ! Open the body to see if fluid spilled on boards ! clean up the excess if any on the boards before putting engines back on track & powering up !

It usually takes a minute or so for the fluid to heat up so if it's not coming out and the smoke unit is on just keep running it.   Sometimes I won't see a full head of steam for a few minutes.

First Timer,

Some smoke units will have an issue where the fluid covers the hole when you add drops. Blowing down the stack can break the seal and smoke comes out.

The fact that it started working after sitting a day or two suggests this is the case. So add less drops more frequently and blowing down the stack slowly will help.

Also Megasteam.com sells a precision dispenser that helps. The needle dropper puts the fluid in the batting directly so you don't get smoke fluid covering the hole when it drops in. Here is a link to the dispenser.

Hope that helps.
