Rob and Bob Nelson, thanks for your replies. I finally figured out it would be better to leave the drivers as is, replace the pickup shoe which it needs and then try and sell the 2026 and get a 2037 that will also probably need a lot of work. Jeff at Train Tender is sending me out a new shoe plate.

Consider replacing the entire motor with one from a 2037, to add magnetraction as well.  I did that when my motor bearings wore out completely.

That is another direction I will go if I can't find the correct ones.

Since the center drivers are "blind", it would be a lot easier to machine them, or remove extra material by grinding or filing, while still on the loco.

That is an idea I hadn't thought of. Thanks

Been a while since I have been here but I am restoring a 2026 for one of my kids and while I'm at it I would like to replace the oversized center drivers. Does anyone know of a source for them? The wheels need to be counterweight out by the way. I guess I could get a wrecked up 2037 motor and use those but would rather not.

Thanks,  Mike
