Swede, thank you for the reply and for the links.  Upon further investigation it turned out that the unit had no electronics on the insides so it was missing more than just the spring clips.  I have no idea what happened to it as once I unscrewed the base you could see where things would be clipped or screwed in but it was empty.  Needless to say I am sending it back and will go a different route to obtain another one.

Thanks again.

Not sure if you have an owners manual. Here is a link. It may be helpful.

Also have attached a link giving a name to the spring clip as well as a possible source if you can't find them locally.

Good Luck, swede

Hello, I recently purchased the Lionel Santa fe Scrap Yard 6-34144. While it appears to be new it does not have the spring clips on the bottom of the base so it is unable to be hooked up.  Does anyone know where I can go to get replacement ones? I searched Lionel part site with no luck. I also have been unable to locate a good picture of the clips to see what exactly they should look like and how they mount to the base. Any suggestions would be great.  Thanks
