There is avaible a fan driven smoke unit now will it fit where you want it to puff smoke I'm not sure. you would also need to install a micro switch to be able to turn it off for when you don't want smoke or run out of fluid as you can burn it out if no fluid in it.
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

I'm sure it is but if you want to run conventional why pay for all of the other goodies when you could convert one of your present engines for about $50 or so instead of paying over $400 to get another I was giving you an option is all. I run TMCC and conventional I like both and have a real soft spot for the good ole conventional I have one SW-2 but I have put TMCC in it and its so tight I hate taking it apart so I can't really look in that but If I remember correctly motor is above front truck and there is a stack behind that and you could put the smoke unit there to give the effect you want. here you go charles ro has one $469.95 http://www.charlesro.com/store/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CRSC&Product_Code=L82115&Category_Code=OLDL
trainsintheattic I am totally taken by the small road switcher(s) that go by a confusing array of numbers (at least for me they are confusing) --- SW-1, SW-1000, SW-1500, SW-8, SW-9, NW-2 --- and maybe more. What I do want, however, is smoke. I REALLY REALLY would like this thing to smoke --- is that possible? Does Lionel or Atlas or MTH or anyone sell one of these switchers that smokes? I’d sure appreciate an answer/advice and I thank you in advance. Happy New Year.
That is a good question I would like to know also.I can’t think of any of the ones you listed that run in conventional with smoke. Not to say there is not one. The only Diesel switcher I have with smoke is a K-Line scale Plymouth yard switcher. It has smoke but can only move a few cars. Neat little unit though. I agree with RT that there are smoke units out there you could put into something if you think you can. I would look for something with the motors in the trucks so you would have more room inside the shell to work.
Good luck on the hunt.

Thanks --- yep, appreciate your thinking! Geesh, but i DO love this hobby!
I love working on them mainly and if I get stuck there's all kinds of help out there
I think that the recent Lionel Genset switcher has smoke. It is not a NW or SW, though.
The cab area of the #600 MKT switcher that I have is entirely clear. Seems like there would be room for a smoke unit there. Might have to do some piping to get the output from the smoke unit to the exhaust stacks, though.
