Make sure the body is not interfering with the proper operation of the mechanism.

Larry: That's the first thing I checked ... several times in fact. It's a pretty simple arrangement. The countedweight isn't hung up, the back of the giraffe's does touch the roof of the car .... I don't know what else it could be. I ran the train at the same speed with the body shell on and the giraffe does drop but late and hits the telltales. With the body shell off it'DROPS LIKE A ROCK" and misses the telltales.
The giraffe in my San Diego Zoo car is slower to duck than the postwar giraffe cars. Never tried removing the shell to see if it made a difference. Will be interested to read what you or anyone else find out.

Hi All:
After replacing a damaged truck on this car, I put car (body/shell on) back on the tracks and the giraffe's head hits the overhead tell-tales. The giraffe head does duck but late. I remove the car body/shell and it works perfectly. Head ducks before the tell-tales. Any idea why it won't operate properly with the body/shell on?
