I've got a K-Line 4-6-2 with the same problem as yours, i.e. a burned out smoke unit.  I tried to install a Seuthe smoke unit, the same one that goes in a Williams steamer but it's too big and just won't fit.  The K-line unit seems to be closer to HO size.

The next big train show I go to where someone's selling HO parts and accessories I'm going to have a look to see what's available.

By the way, the whistle unit on my 4-6-2 was shot as well.  I removed it and installed a Williams electronic steam whistle and bell unit.  Easy install and it works great.

I am currently looking for a new steamer but in the meantime would like to replace the cheap faulty smoke unit in my AT&SF 4-6-2 Kline steam engine. Is there an after market one that would fit this engine that would be better than the crappy on it came with? I have two of these and seems bith barely produced smoke and burnt out very quickly dispite keeping filled with fluid.
