Fast question: We have to replace a few bulbs in our #395 Floodlight Towers. Lionel's charge for their 14v bulb is $2.00. Can we use a smaller volt less expensive no-name bulb or must we use a 14v bulb? As always, many thanks.
The original Postwar Lionel 395 light tower used #51 bulbs which are six volt.

PS ........Talked to my neighbor (knows everything!) He said you were correct but also cautioned me. He says that the lights are hooked together in a series and if one of the two lights in the series burns out, the other will not light.
Looks like we may not have to replace as many as we thought.

Well, lo and behold, the information received from our original call to Lionel had a "mis-communication". As it turns out, the information given us was for the current Floodlight production. Ours is a postwar item. (Not a 14v screw-in at all)
Really "love" this hobby. Learn something everyday.

Try visiting a Radio Shack or a well-stocked Ace Hardware store if you've got any in your area. You may just be surprised with what you find there.
