For this scenario to work properly the two block areas of the layout must be powered by phased power supplies or there can be a short.
.Lion Chief + can be run with it's remote or the transformer alone just as any conventional engine can. If you are running with the remote and your engine goes from an 18v area to a reduced power area the remote controlled LC engine will slow down reflecting whatever the voltage level is in the new area. If you were running conventional, sans remote then the engine will speed up or down depending on the power setting and you could lose control if the new block is operated by another transformer.
They will run on any 3 rail track with any regular type of transformer. You can turn the voltage down but remember you need enough to run the engine.
You will need all the blocks on where the train will be running.
