Help with 282 crane

Wrong assumption.

You have to move two levers to raise/lower the magnet. The center lever - hold it up. The left lever - move up or down while holding center lever up.

Hi Gents. Need your expertise. Picked up a 282 Gantry Crane. Will turn lft and rt. Magnet will work but will not lift or lower hook. motor will buzz. I see the magnet is trying to pull the gears over and the line disk appears to be trying to move but that's it.The line is not binding on anything. I have the Cab off. Something going on underneath. Your thoughts please. Thanks... I'm assuming that if the gears move then the motor should start turning to raise and lower hook ??..
