Fortunately I was able to find a 55C tender with the chugger unit for my Royal Blue. My prewar Royal Blue came with a post war tender shell.

I agree, those would have been great additions.  There is a matching whistling baggage car for the set.

In 1941 Flyer produced the 555C, a tender with a chugger in it.  I'm still looking for one of those.

Looks like you have a nice set. It's too bad they never added smoke & chuff to this engine.

Sir James,

I'm glad you like the Royal Blue.  Its one of my favorites too.  I can't send you the set, but  here are a few more photos of it.

Too bad Gilbert didn't continue the passenger cars in S gauge after the war.

I did a presentation at our local historical society on Saturday.  It covered some of the high spots of my Prewar American Flyer train collection.  Here are a few photos of the display. I had the opportunity to present for an hour and then answered questions and ran trains for another 45 minutes.  There were just over 50 people in attendance.

Spanky & Dave -- thank you for your Sunday contributions, I always enjoy looking at other's layouts and their imaginations at work!  I'm just about to start pulling out trains that only appear at Christmas and I'm sure looking forward to that special time.  Thanks again.!
