I was checking my Lionel Dash9-44 (2002) smoke unit, it had stopped working. When I took apart the unit and checked the motor it spun when I powered the motor with a 9v battery. When i put the unit back together it stopped running. When I checked, I found the gasket was stopping the motor, trimmed the gasket and WOW it all worked and smoke poured out of the engine.
I keep reading about bad motors in Lionels diesels, could it be the gasket?
