I will non-officially review the RMT (Ready Made Toys) Geep/Beep
It is a fairly quiet runner. It is a funny looking Geep, riding on a single
4-wheel truck that resembles a standard GP truck that has been pulled by two SD90MAC's going in opposite directions. The body is what you'd get if you put a semi-scale GP shell in a car crusher. It has knuckle couplers. This engine features directional lighting, but not the best. The front tends to catch on rough track, so this one needs either new track, or fine tuned track. Retailing for $50, this engine is 3-rail and is track-powered. The individuak links in the chain are a nice touch. This engine is good to add variety to a steam-powered 0 or 0-27 set.

I've got one of the first run Beeps, It's a neat little engine. Runs well, pulls enough cars(about 6 or 7), I just wi***here was some sound. Got the Christmas Beep & caboose on order [:)]

I agree with the previous comments about the engine being a real looker. Pulling power is just fine, but I've experienced major problems with 0-27 lionel turnouts. When taking the curved path through these switches, the pickup roller under the trailing end (and I say "trailing" because it doesn't matter which end of the engine goes first....it still happens) slides off the center rail and down between the center rail and the moving switch points.......SHORT CIRCUIT. It happens every time. I have contacted the manufacturer to explain this, and they seem to deny the problem. It's very obviously a design flaw and I don't think there is any easy way for them to fix it. I have an idea to try, but I don't know that I want to attempt it. I hate the thoughts of it, but I might take it to the Fall Allentown, PA meet (I bought it there in the spring) and make RMT/OGRR take it back.

The first run Beeps experienced this problem when pulling a train. I understood the later Beeps to have a longer slot cut for their couplers to move around the curve that eliminated this .

low current draw- i ran it on some dirty 0-27 track WHILE my #1666 prarie steams on fastrack. I was running them both off of my old 60 watt transformer, and they ran reliably at half throttle! The engine handles less power well. It's like that engine has odyssey system or somthing!

I don't know if lionel still makes them but they used to have railsound cars that would either have steam or diesel in them. You would get loco sound and whistle and bell.
This would be ideal for the beep. Dave.

DJ, I got a flyer in the mail from RMT-as i has been a previous customer- It had the Christmas BEEP & caboose in it.
As far as I know, the website has NOT been updated to include them. The order #'s are:RMT-4501 or RMT4502 [ road #'s 1224;1225] for the engines. The cabooses are: RMT-CAB501[road # 1225] . You can call toll free to order, at 1-800-477-6994. I ordered thru the mail, I hope they recieved my order[:)]

I just ordered the Christmas Beep today by the 800# and the order taker was very nice, great Southern Drawl! She said they would be in by the 1st or 2nd week in Dec. I think I must be losing it, I ordered one of Walts' trolley's last week and now the beep and all I run is MTH PS2 with the DCS. Oh well, for $50.00 how can you go wrong!

I don't know what all the excitement about Beeps is about. To me, the nicest thing about postwar and later trains is that they resemble their prototypes fairly closely. Even Lionel's #44/45 Mobile Missle Launchers were modeled after armored locomotives used in the Korean War. The only major departure was the launcher itself. Besides, the "Beep" mechanism wheelbase is too long for an industrial switcher. I think I'll pass

I have my first BEEP on order, an Ohio Central. Since my giraffe car and the sheriff and outlaw car are prototypically correct [:D] , I don't think anyone will notice that the Beep is slightly out of scale, but then again I did catch one 10 year old smart aleck kid last year at our annual neighborhood Christmas Party counting the rivets in the rear door of the Chessie Caboose. [:0] I was so ashamed that there were two extra rivets and the keyhole was not prototypically correct. I'm not sure I can stand the scrutiny.[:(]

Mine was delivered yesterday too-- [:)][:)] runs great! had it on my test loop pulling my K-line Coca-Cola musical Christmas car[:)][:)] Ran it for about an hour non stop.

Well, i'm supposed to be getting my christmas caboose tomorrow. Got an automated Email with UPS tracking # and expected delivery date of Dec. 22.So there is hope that those that are awaiting theirs will have them by thursday!!!
Will make a nice Christmas extra train on the pike: the Beep, a Coca-Cola Christmas musical car, the K-line Santa & reindeer flat, and the Christmas caboose!! Happy [insert favoriteholiday] to all!

Ive got about 8 BEEP's I take them to trainshows with me and run them for 8 + hours, with about 5 cars... not even more, great machines

Is this the same loco that Williams made in past years and I believe if not mistaken was originally made my KMT trains. Sure looks the same, but I imagine updated.

I ran mine for about 2 hours and noticed a slight "growl" emanating from the worm gears. How many of you expected the bottom cover plate to lift off when you removed those 8 phillips heads screws? HA! It won't. So here's what you do.

Remove the plastic shell.
Remove the single screw holding the circuit board in place
Lift the circuit board to one side and that will expose 3 screws down in the frame
Remove all three screws (the two on the end secure the pickup rollers. The middle one holds the cover plate you're trying to remove.)
Now the cover plate comes right off and you can lube the worm and drive gears with grease.
Reassemble in reverse order.

Mine is super quiet now and has been for 10 hours. At 12 volts indicated on my LW, it pulls steady and evenly @ 20 SMPH. It really slows down and stays smooth, almost like it has speed control.

It's a great little "critterbug"...

My two Western Maryland Beeps have had a Postwar-like growwwllll right from the start, even though I lightly oiled them before running. Guess I oughta follow Duda's directions and give 'em a greasin' before something strips.

I've run into the same problems with Lionel 1122 switches - my Beeps won't negotiate the turnout section - period. They're also VERY sensitive to rough trackwork (which describes mine to a "T"). Very easy to break contact and throw the E-unit - very frustrating when trying to double-head.

They are really cool looking little engines, run nice (when I can get them to the mainlines past any 27" switches)and sorta reliably on my "rough as a cob" trackwork, and are priced very well, but I don't forsee anymore in my future. I don't regret buying the two that I have (and will keep), I just don't need any more switchers that won't negotiate switches (at least the 27" Lionel variety).

When I go "long nose forward" mine stalls out on one of the four O22 switches. I turned it around to "short nose" and it is a smooth as silk across all four switches in both directions. And I mean REALLY SMOOTH!
