I think maybe, possibly, Classic Toy Trains did an article on this gent back in the 90's. I remember reading an article about a home layout with an in-house diesel cab years back, I think it was in CTT.
We need Roger Carp to sound off on this one. I believe he's been with CTT since the beginning.
Doctor Muff huh? Hmmm....the joke is just dieing to escape past my lips....

the engine is just THE tip of the iceburg
Since no one answered went to the net Yes he was in an ep of Tracks ahead
I remember seeing this years ago on PBS
The engine "functions" by sound push button pull lever reverser and a realistic prerecorded sound goes off as if it were really on the rails
The ep shows the house being built with the cab going in and not surprising the guy's a doctor
Maybe its on you tube do not know but the ep also features Angela Trotta Thomas
Oh and some guy in CA had ?has a monorail you can ride in his backyard he built it himself

Holy canoli!
Was this not featured in a ep of "Tracks Ahead"?
If so yes he built the house around it ,it "functions" and his wife gave it to him
This cab is in Nick Muff's home basement as well as a replica of the Kansas City Union Station concourse...and..replicas of passenger cars seen to the left of the photograph. I saw this photo and it blew my mind. Just when I thought I had seen every extremely large layout....Would be interesting to see if and when he sells his house, how that locomotive cab is listed as a "plus".
Silly me..and here I was thinking I was a bit too obsessive about my layout and the prospect of eventually tearing it down.He must have literally built the house around that cab. Unbelievable but true....
Nothing is more fairly distributed than common sense: no one thinks he needs more of it than he already has.
