I have an American Flyer 312 4-6-2 that I inherited. It's working just fine, but it has a couple jewels missing and I found where I can get replacements, but I don't know if they're all to be green or if some are red. Can someone please help me and explain what goes where? Or, just post a picture of what colors are correct in which place.
And, if anyone could give me an approximate value, that would be great . . . even though I have no intention on selling as it was left to me by my Dad.
Thanks
I don't own any American Flyer, but I did a check on eBay to look at pictures posted for items that are for sale, and all the ones that had a picture of the front of the 312 show GREEN jewels. Hope this helps.

Red markers are used at the rear of a train on the last car - 'bringing up the markers'.

As far as value goes I would say, on average, a 312 sells for around $75 - $100. But condition, good or bad, would bring it in lower or higher of course.
