I'd check the wiring end to end, but my guess is oxidation in the sockets, as Hap mentioned.
The lamps (1402) are rated at 14 volts; so it's unlikely that they are wired in series.

First guess is a bad ground, wire break, or corrosion along the circuit. Sometimes the insulation at the base of the bulb socket can hide a wire break or corrosion; or the socket is oxidized enough to prevent current flow yet looks OK. Sounds like a nice project to trouble shoot, sorry no schematic though.
I'm trying to restore a pre-war Lionel #47 double crossing gate. The gates operate well when power is applied, but the lamps do not light. I've checked the bulbs and they're OK. I'm wondering, first, if those lamps are wired in series or parallel, and second, is there a schematic for that accessory available anywhere? Thanks in advance for any tips.
