I couldn't agree with you more about the brick and mortar places being gone forever once they close.  I try as much as possible to support my LHS which in this case is Arnies trains in Westminster CA.  The staff there is awesome and friendly.  The only time I don't buy from them is when they don't have or can't get but their prices blow the doors off of Ebay or anyone else in this part of the state.  They stand behind everything they sell new or used. I encourage everyone to support their LHS whenever possible as it is always great to be able to ge hands on experience before you buy.

Can't stop working on the railroad!

Wow, I haven't been to Maine since the '80s, Moosehead Lake to be specific, and for the fishing.  AND the Rice's Brand hot dogs AND the frappe's they sell at the ice cream places in Greenville Junction AND the fabulous food at the Boom Chain restaurant.  Trains never entered my mind but should I ever go back to Maine it'll be for the trains at Rainy Days plus all the other things.

The Country Store in Hurley will definately be a stop should I ever get that way.

Thanks for the information!

By the way it used to be a pharmacutical soda shop/fountain

In my travels up north this past weekend I visited this fine hobby shop called Ridgefield Hobby, located at 508 Broad Ave. in Ridgefield NJ.  A fine old-fashioned hobby shop AND they've got a snack bar as well!  Lionel both current and collectable, MTH, American Flyer, plus an assortment of HO and N gauge for you folks who haven't gotten with the classic toy train program yet.

Plus, a great assortment of aircraft, ship, car, and military models as well if your tastes run to that direction, with the wherewithal to put 'em together and make 'em look good.

Can't say enough about the staff either, they treated me like a long-lost friend even though it was my first time there.  So much so I left with the wallet $200 lighter.  Well, nobody MADE me go in!

A fine shop worthy of a visit if you're in the area, or if you're a local well worth the visit, especially in this age of disappearing hobby shops.

Remember and mark what I say:  Once the "brick-and-mortar" hobby shops are gone no power on earth will bring them back.  And we don't want that, do we?

I don't get up north as much as I used to but they'll be on the visit list next time I do!

AND, several days before I was in Lansdale PA and visited a shop called Hennings Trains at 128 S. Line street.  I can't say enough about those folks either!  Great staff, lot's o' stuff for O gaugers, Lionel, MTH, plus a large inventory of Lionel repair parts, and I KNOW some of you folks are always on the lookout for those!  I left $200 in there as well, found some things I was looking for I couldn't find anywhere else.

And again, for you folks who haven't wised up and joined the O gauge fraternity there's Lin's Trains in the same building, all HO and N with assorted necessarys.  Just kidding folks, trains are a hobby big enough for everyone, even those who don't appreciate the thundering majesty of O gauge.
