I think the 12B already has a circuit breaker.  That transformer can probably deliver about 15 amperes.  So, unless you add a circuit breaker with a lower current rating, you should use 14 AWG wire.  With a 10-ampere breaker or breakers you can safely go down to 16 AWG.

Anyone:......I'm considering buying this relatively new Lionel Legacy Cab1L system and would like to hear from anyone about it's pros /cons....   I have two, medium sized, isolated, S-gauge layouts, powered by a conventional,12B trainsformer, and will probbly not run more than 3 Legacy iengines (as well as several S gauge conventional engines) in the furture.    Is this the right Lionel system for me, and why or why not?

I also need to install a circuit breaker (for overload protection)....what would you recommend?
