Several years ago we used the 027 rubber roadbed with the Crayola Set, works fine. I've never seen it sold locally. The only downside is it looks a little odd - with the various tie shapes on 027 track, the track sits in the roadbed, vs. snapping in like the O gauge version. I have quite a bit of the O gauge roadbed on the layout, nice stuff, just wi***hey would have stuck with gray instead of making it all black.

Vinylbed is also a nice product, with added ties you'd get a much better look.

I don't know about Johnson's roadbed but www.VINYLBED.com makes a good product that works and looks great.

Rubber roadbed for tubular track

In preparation for my Christmas tree layout, I have given serious consideration to using Johnson's rubber roadbed under 027 profile tubular track. Has anyone had any reasonable sucess using this stuff? And, does anyone know of a cheaper supplier than ordering direct from the manufactuer?
