TMCC in conventional mode
Posted by kpbart on Saturday, July 12, 2014 2:11 PM
I purchased a brand new Lionel engine that is equipped with TMCC. It is a 1996 model so it is the first version. My question being I run everything else I have with conventional control AC transformers sooo am I going to be able to operate this conventionally or do I resell it? The engine # 6-18563. Thanks!

That's a great engine I have 2 of them in the NYC road name. and as stated it should do fine in conventional mode as it will pause for a few seconds when you apply power to it as it will be looking for command signal but once it can't find it, it will then go into conventional mode

The engine will automatically sense you do not have TMCC installed and come up in conventional mode. You can install a 9v battery to smooth over the sound bumps you get when interrupting power. But that is optional and I never install a battery because I'm afraid I would leave it in.
