Model Power gets a new lease on life
Posted by Carl Swanson on Monday, June 30, 2014 10:44 AM

Model Power is back! The long-standing train maker is getting a new lease on life courtesy of Model Rectifier Corp. (MRC), which will produce and market Model Power's railroad products under the Model Power brand.

Model Power manufactures products in all scales, including structures and figures in O gauge as well as an extensive line of electrical products.

This addition makes MRC a full line model railroading company. MRC and Model Power have been serving the hobby industry for more than 50 years. Each has a sizable industry following with strong product lineups within the model railroad sector.

In a press release today, Frank Ritota, president of MRC, explained that "the plan is to use the obvious synergy from the melding of the product lines to create new, profitable opportunities for our dealers and distributors, as well as innovative product experiences for railroaders and other hobbyists."

To assure a smooth transition, Adam Tager, formerly vice president of Model Power will fill MRC's newly created post of Director of Product Development.

Tager described Model Power's train sets, locomotives, rolling stock, structures and accessories as "the ideal complement to MRC's DCC and DC train controls, sound and accessory decoders and JTT scale landscaping products." MRC's brands, as well as the Mantua and Model Power lines, have established themselves as leaders in the hobby and mass markets as well as in specialty retail sectors.

Model Power's railroad and accessory products will now be available worldwide from MRC.

Well that's great, Model Power didn't deserve to die.
