Reputable Auction Houses?

Hello,

I would like to know if anyone has had any positive experiences selling O gauge trains using an auction house? If so, please share your experiences and the auction house you used. I am trying to gather a few sources for my father to contact.

A Google search should result in a list of auction houses that specialize in Collectables, toys, and trains.
My buddy recently sold part of his collection through Stout, and was happy with the outcome.

I have been to an NETTE auction, and thought it was well run.

Be aware that at least some of the auction houses are very selective about what they will auction, and may not want the consignment.

Warning unless you find a auction house that specializes in toy/trains you most likely not get the results you want. A lot of general auction houses are mainly consumed by retailers ones doing flea markets and Antique shops so they want to pay wholesale not retail or even close to retail. I know its a lot of work but I 1 would wait until November early December to sell and do Ebay or find a place like Stout Auctions as they have auctions for trains only and when they do normally its live on line also at the same time. and I see them get fair prices for there items they auction off. And there both in IN. and PA. not sure what there commission to the seller is but they are worth looking into I would think.

Another one is Philip Weiss though he does spread out his lots  and subject matter but sometimes highlights Toy Trains

Also Noel Barret is a good one

But as stated Stout and NETTE are ones to check

Ted Mauer in Lionville Pa advertises in CCT, and there is also Buzz and Norma ray in CTT

I have bought some thru Ambrose Bauer but never sold any there. They do not combine shipping so your shipping charges can be very high if you buy several lots. They charge a buyers fee so they may not charge anything to the seller but I am not sure.
