I had to replace one of the drive wheels on my Royal Blue 556.Power wheels turn fine..two sets of dummy drivers also turn freely....but when I try to replace the linkage the wheels lock up as it appears not to be quartered properly.I used a Flyer S gauge Royal Blue as my guide to quartering but everything I tried so far has failed.I really do not want pull wheel off again but that might be my only option.Any thoughts why she may be locking up when likage is installed....
The wheels need to be quartered exactly, or the side rods will bind. To find the wheel that is causing the binding, take one side rod screw out of one wheel and try running the engine. If it runs, replace the screw and remove another screw. Continue until the engine runs freely. Chances are the wheel you replaced is the bad one, and needs to be removed and reinstalled properly.

"Exactly" is right, but only in the sense of "exactly the same" The actual angle doesn't need to be 90 degrees.
